Our Leadership Team

Drew Zarallo
Director of Operations
Drew Zarallo is the Director of Operations and co-principal of Cogent Renewables. He is a goal-oriented leader who strives to make the personnel around him better every day.
Utilizing 14 years of utility-scale solar experience on three continents, Drew develops creative solutions to complex problems by garnering teamwork approaches and challenging traditional thought processes. This open-minded approach to problem-solving supports the confidence to lead team members through any situation on a project. Drew was executing large-scale projects at the dawn of utility-scale solar in the early-2000’s. He has extensive knowledge of the execution of renewable projects. Drew actively participates in all phases of the project’s lifecycle, knowing that planning and preparation lay the foundation for a project’s success. He is a Partner, acutely drawn to the details of the design, procurement, and execution of renewable projects. The ability to envision the execution while still in the planning stages enhances the strategic viewpoint and allows active participation from the entire project team.
Drew is the driving force behind Cogent’s “empowering people” corporate slogan. Due to the demand for experienced professionals required to facilitate the solar industry expansion in the coming years, he strives to create a corporate culture immersed in intense training and personnel development.
Drew is a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving two combat tours in the Middle East.

Mark Zarallo
Director of Pre-Construction
Mark Zarallo leads project front-end implementation and engineering coordination, and comprehensive specification compliance efforts. He is detail-oriented and has experience-driven insight to implement measures leading to increased project success.
Mark brings a wealth of experience, having served as a Vice President, Senior Director of Construction, and Project Manager for large-scale renewable energy companies.
Mark has over 1 GW of experience in utility-scale solar; this experience working with owners, independent engineers, and detailed design firms makes Mark an excellent single point of contact for Cogent partners.
Mark is committed to ensuring all engineering details are clear and that specifications have been implemented to allow Cogent leadership to properly train and execute work to the expectations of our clientele. The demand for experienced professionals for the expanding solar industry requires the commitment to continually train personnel as part of the culture at Cogent.

Walt Kittrell
Director of Business Development
Walt is a highly driven, tenacious, Business Development Professional who continually provides superior customer service and demonstrates his many
years of experience in delivering value propositions to clients. Walt has the experience and industry knowledge to formulate approaches to compete in all renewable energy business sectors through relationship management from Project Managers to C-level executives, delivering impeccable service to
customers.
Walt has a demonstrated career of providing value proposition solutions to clients. He brings a multitude of experience having served as a Vice President, Senior Director, and Sales Leader for large scale industrial and renewable energy companies.
Walt has the unique ability to work in concert with clients to identify and propose value-based propositions based on his in-depth experience. His past experience, working on field level leadership in heavy industrial projects, allows him to pull from an extensive knowledge base while placing customer needs at the forefront.
Walt is committed to effectively communicating with clients to identify unique features hidden in every project execution scheme. He works diligently to ensure all clients’ needs are addressed in the value proposition. Walt addresses the demand clients expect to maintain communication and feedback from proposal acceptance through project completion.
